Cairns to Kuranda Map & Directions
As you can see, Kuranda is convenient to all of the attractions of the Cairns Great Barrier Reef region. We are located adjacent to the Jumrum Creek Rainforest Conservation Park just one kilometre west of Kuranda Village and only 29 kms (approx 30 minutes) from Cairns.

Kuranda Resort Transport Options
You have a number of choices regarding your transport from Cairns Airport or Cairns City to Kuranda Resort. Here are some suggestions:
Skyrail/Train Transfer
Transfer between Cairns Airport and Kuranda Resort by world renowned Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic Rail.
Guests who don't have their own vehicle or rental car will need to pay in some way or another for transport to and from the Resort. So, we have come up with a concept that not only gets you to the Resort and back but provides a great experience as well as saving you money along the way. Most visitors travel on Skyrail/Kuranda Scenic Rail while they are here so we recommend that you consider making those experiences part of your transfers to and from the Resort.
Skyrail up - Cairns Scenic Railway down
We meet you at Cairns Airport, convey you to the Smithfield Skyrail Terminal, meet you at the Kuranda Skyrail Terminal after your Skyrail experience, and then transfer you to Kuranda Resort. We take care of your luggage.
For your return trip down the range by Kuranda Scenic Rail, we will transfer you to Kuranda Railway Station. Transport arrangements after you arrive at Cairns Central Railway station, such as a taxi to the airport, are not included.

Special Note: Skyrail operates from 9am to 5.15pm and Skyrail recommends that travellers allow up to 1½ hours for the trip. Therefore there are no departures after 3.30pm. See the Skyrail website. Also note scheduled preventative maintenance closures.
Kuranda Resort Bus
Kuranda Resort offers a Transfer service to and from the airport at a cost of $25.00 per person each way.
Trans North Bus Service
Trans North operates bus services from Cairns to the Highlands via Kuranda. Information on schedules and pricing is available on the Trans North Website.
